Reflective Practice

Working with my VCCLS and HCCLS groups really helped me be more confident while working with others at my school. I used to suffer in silence when I struggled to reach certain students or tackle challenging subjects.  Now I feel confident that I am not alone and that I want to problem solve with my coworkers. I learned so many tools and strategies from my time at Wipro that I brought to the Instructional Leadership Team at my school.

When our administrator joined our school this year, I was ready and prepared to share tools and strategies for leading and learning online. I was able to use the warm/cool feedback protocols I learned from Wipro to structure other interactions I had with guest artists and my student teacher.

I am already using the presentation and organizational skills I learned from Wipro to share information with colleagues, students, and families.

I have sincerely enjoyed being part of my district team and having Sharon as my mentor. This has been an unbelievably challenging year, and having Sharon, Tammy, Eric, and the Wipro team checking up on us has been so wonderful.

Sharon has inspired me to remain student-centered, and has shown me the importance of clarifying my vision and leveraging my influence. She has consistently treated me with grace and understanding when times were challenging and I tried to do the same for students and other teachers I work with.

The SFUSD group supported each other while we were all in shelter-in-place and shared ideas. I will never forget our distanced group hike, online baking, and playing Among Us. After those online community activities, I was able to share joyful times with my students, teachers, and friends online. Our Wipro community was always one step ahead, and finding ways to remain passionate about our work in challenging times.

Connecting with other districts in California and nationally has been incredible. It is amazing to think that I have facilitated a workshop that included people from so many regions and shared my GPS project.

Working on my GPS project and Tools for Supporting English Language Learners in Science workshop were amazing experiences because I felt proud of the work  I am passionate about. I felt proud to showcase student potential and student joy.

The feedback from my project presentations celebrated student engagement and that makes me really proud. Moving forward I will continue to lead efforts to increase student engagement and create meaningful learning opportunities for myself and others. I want to create professional learning for myself and others. I want to create professional learning communities (PLCs) at my school centered on S.T.E.A.M. and project based learning. I also want to organize our resources and supplies to best serve our students and teachers.

I want to use the strategies I have learned at Wipro to continue increasing vertical alignment of instruction at my school. I want to provide more ongoing opportunities for older students to be leaders for younger students. I will continue being reflective and brave to share and collaborate with other educators.
